Mutton Casserole (Dabba Gosht) is the most popular Bohri Cuisine It is a mutton delicacy that is baked and served in the same dish. definitely a must-try. Bohri Cuisine offers a wide variety of delicacies, both vegetarian and non – vegetarian.

Mutton Casserole (Dabba Gosht) a yummy mutton delicacy. In this recipe, mutton is boiled, mixed with boiled vegetables, and then baked, here I have used boiled peas any vegetables of your liking can be added, noodles macaroni or pasta can be added also.


It is quite a popular cuisine for its traditional eating style, wherein one sits on the ground and eats in a “Thaal” full of different dishes. Thaal is a large round metal plate, where the family sits around it helping themselves from the same dish, course by course. It is considered to be a symbol of unity, equality, and sharing. Every meal starts and ends with taking a grain of salt.

Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Serve: 4

Ingredients

  • 400gm Boneless Mutton (Lamb or Chicken)
  • 1 Tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 2 Tbsp Roasted Chana Dal
  • 1/4 cup Cashewnut
  • 2 Tsp Green Chilli Paste
  • 1/2 Cup Curd
  • 2 Tbsp Cream
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 Tbsp Melon Seeds
  • 1/2 cup Boiled Peas
  • 2 Tbsp Coriander leaves

For Topping

  • Egg 2
  • Tomatoes, Potatoes, Boiled Egg, or any vegetable of your choice.
  • Ghee 3 – 4 tbsp

Method

  • Wash the mutton, drain out excess water. Cut into a 2-inch cube.
  • Marinate mutton in salt ginger garlic green chili paste for 30 minutes.
  • Place the mutton in a pressure cooker with half a glass of water and boil.
  • Mutton takes 15 to 30 minutes to cook, while chicken cooks in 10 minutes.
  • After the first whistle cook for 10 to 30 minutes on a slow flame, depending on the quality of meat.
  • Roast melon seeds, chana dal, and cashew nuts, cool, add little water, and grind to a fine paste.
  • In boiled mutton add curd, ground paste, boiled peas, coriander leaves, and cream. Mix properly.
  • Add in baking dish spread evenly.
  • Top with thinly sliced tomatoes and finely chopped coriander.
  • Beat the eggs add on top of mutton, spread evenly.
  • Heat ghee till smoking hot and add it on top of the eggs.
  • Bake for 30 min for 180 degrees and serve hot.
  • This can be served with hot kulchas or can be served by itself.
