How To Make Tomato Puree

When preparing any tomato-based dish, a handy jar of tomato puree is super useful. The Tomato puree recipe is easy to make and store. Here I will show you a super easy friendly homemade recipe that can be refrigerated or frozen.
This recipe is perfect to make in the tomato season when tomatoes are cheap and easily available.
Types of Tomatoes
You can choose any type of ripe tomatoes to make the puree round or oval ones. Choose tomatoes with more flesh and less juice, choose firm tomatoes, firm and fleshy tomatoes makes thicker puree.
Shelf Life and Storage
Puree stays good for 3 to 4 days in the fridge and 3 to 4 months in the freezer.
It can be stored in a glass jar in a freezer. You can refer to the article on how to store the liquid in a glass jar.
Tomato Puree can also be freeze in an ice cube tray.
Once frozen, remove tomato puree cubes from the tray, and store them in a zip lock bag or an airtight container. the cube can be used as needed in any dish.

How to make Tomato Puree
1. Wash and rinse tomatoes very well.
2. With a sharp knife make half-inch Criss cross-cut on the base of the tomatoes.
3. Boil water in a large pan. Let the water boil on a large flame. Place the tomatoes in boiling water. Cook tomatoes in boiling water for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove tomatoes from hot water and place them in cold water for 2 minutes.
4. Drain water and peel and remove the skin.
5. Cut it into half and remove stems. Cut into small pieces. Blend in a mixer or blender to a smooth paste.
6. Fresh tomato puree is ready. Freeze it in glass jars or ice tray. Refer to this article on how to freeze liquid in glass jar.
7. Once set, remove cubes from the ice tray and store them in a zip lock bag and use them as needed.
