Ingredients for the Dough of Easy Braided Bread

  • Wheat flour 3 cups
  • Proso Millet Flour 1 cup
  • Egg 1
  • Dry yeast 1 tsp
  • Sugar 2 tsp sugar
  • Milk powder 2 tbsp
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Lukewarm water to make a dough

Ingredients for the filling of Easy Braided Bread

  • Chicken 2 cups Boiled with salt  and shredded
  • Onion ½ cup chopped
  • Garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Corn boiled ½ cup
  • Capsicum ½ cup
  • Dry herbs 1 tsp
  • Paprika powder 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder 1 tsp
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1.5 cup milk
  • Salt to Taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    •  Start by making the dough. In a bowl, combine the yeast and sugar with ¼ cup of lukewarm water. Cover and let it sit for 10 minutes, or until the mixture becomes frothy.
    • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, egg , milk powder, the yeast mixture, oil and salt. Gradually add warm water and knead to form a stiff dough.
Proofing the dough
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  • While the dough is rising, lets make the filling.

2 . Prepare the filling

  • While the dough is rising, prepare your filling.
  • Heat oil or butter in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté for a minute.
  • Add the garlic paste and sauté until fragrant. Then, add the chopped capsicum and boiled corn, and sauté for another minute.
  • Stir in the shredded chicken and sauté briefly.
  • Season with herbs, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of flour and sauté for a minute, then gradually pour in the milk. Cook the mixture until it thickens.
  • Set aside and allow it to cool until ready to use

3 . Shape The Bread

  • Once the dough has double , divide it into four equal portions. Take one portion and keep the remaining dough covered in a bowl.
  • Depending on the size of your oven or the desired size of the ready bread, you can divide the dough into more or fewer than 4 parts.

  • Roll the dough into an oval shape,if needed sprinkle flour while kneading.
  • Place the filling in the center, with knife  cut slits along both sides of the dough.

  • Overlap the slits, folding them over each other to enclose the filling.

Bake The Braided Bread

  • Preheat the oven  at 350 F or 170 C
  • Brush the loaf with the egg wash (whisk together 1 egg and 1 tbsp milk). Or If u want u can brush with only milk also .
  •  Sprinkle onion seeds .
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown .
  • Take out and brush with melted butter.
  • Allow the braided bread to cool slightly before slicing.
