Spicy garlic potatoes in gravy / Lasooni Aloo is a flavourful and easy spicy tangy potatoes, made with boiled potatoes in a spicy garlic onion tomato gravy. This recipe goes very well with hot chapatis .

Spicy garlic potatoes is a Gujrati potato gravy with prominent garlic flavor. A simple vegetarian dish loved by nearly everyone .

Spicy Garlic Potatoes In Gravy / Lasooni Aloo Recipe

Preparation Time : 25 min
Cooking Time: 30 min
Total Time : 55 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 10 – 12 small baby potatoes
  • 10 – 15 garlic cloves
  • 1 medium size Onion chopped finely
  • 2 small size Tomato grated
  • 2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder (according to your taste)
  • ½ tsp Cumin Seed
  • ⅛ tsp asafoetida
  • 1 tsp pav bhaji masala
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp black salt
  • 2 tbsp + 1tsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Rinse the potatoes in water. Pressure cook them for 3 whistles. The potatoes should cook well and not become crumbly. When they are slightly hot, peel the potatoes. Keep 2 potatoes aside for the gravy, grate the 2 potatoes and keep aside.

Add garlic and 1 tsp red chilli powder in a mortar with a pestle crush the garlic until you get a fine paste. In a pan heat 2 tbsp oil and add cumin seeds and asafoetida . Now add in finely chopped onion and sauté till the onion turns light brown.

Add in grated tomato and sauté till oil leaves the side. Simultaneously add crushed garlic and 2 grated potatoes and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes. Put in coriander powder cumin powder, pav bhaji masala and 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves salt and sauté for 2 minutes.

Add half a cup of hot water, boil and mix the gravy properly.

Add marinated potatoes and let them cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Taste and adjust the salt and seasoning . Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with hot chapattis.
