Chicken Roulade

Chicken Roulade is rolled and stuffed chicken breast. Roulade is a french word meaning “to roll”.

Give your plain chicken breast a twist by stuffing them with spinach beetroot and cheese and serve with a white cheesy sauce or schezwan sauce. This chicken roulade is moist juicy and filled with flavours.

1.The meat is pounded and flattened to create a large surface area.
2.Then it is topped with veggies and cheese.
3.It is then rolled tightly and cooked or baked.
4. After it is cooked it is then cut into slices and served with a dip.

These chicken roulade are easy to cook and gets ready in few minutes only.

Cooking Time: 40 min
Total Time: 60 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients
  • 2 Chicken Breast
  • 1/2 cup spinach blanched and chopped
  • 1/2 cup beetroot grated
  • 1 Tsp Pepper powder
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 4 Cheese slices
  • 1 Tsp garlic paste
  • 1 Tsp dry herbs
  • Oil 2 tsp
  • Salt

To Roll
Banana Leaves or Plastic Cling or Aluminium Foil .

Pound the chicken with a meat tenderizing hammer

Evenly distribute spinach and beetroot on the breast piece
Cover with cheese slices
Roll it tightly
Wrap the chicken roll in banana leaves aluminium foil or cling

Boil the chicken roulade in pan
  • Put the chicken breast in individual plastic bags and use a meat tenderizing hammer to pound them till they are 1/4 inch thick.
  • Mix pepper powder salt dry herbs garlic paste and lemon juice.
  • Rub this marinade on the chicken breasts on both sides of the breast piece.
  • Take banana leaves then take out the middle stem and wash the leaves properly with water wipe them dry. Run the leaves on the slow flame so that it becomes soft and pliable. Cut in size such that the chicken breast can be easily wrapped into it.
  • You can use a plastic cling or aluminum foil also instead of banana leaves.
  • Lay the chicken breast on a clean working surface or a cutting board.
  • Evenly distribute the spinach and beetroot on the breast piece.
  • Then cover it with 2 cheese slices.
  • Roll it as tightly as you can.
  • Wrap the chicken roll in banana leaves then tie it with a string or pack it in aluminum foil seal the edges properly.
  • Or you can wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. Once wrapped, grab the two ends of the plastic wrap and roll to twist them and make it extra tight.
  • Boil water in a pan keep a lid with a hole in it and place the roulade on it, cover the pan and let it cook for 30 minutes. Then cool it , remove the chicken roll.
  • Then add 2 tsp oil to the skillet and heat the skillet. Add the chicken roulade to the skillet, and lightly brown on all sides.
  • Cut the roulades into 1/2 inch thick slices and place in a serving dish
  • Then serve with a white cheesy sauce or schezwan sauce.
